Love Your Farmer

Malinda Frevert

News, Food, Local Food

Valentine's Day is a special time of year to express your love to the people you love most.  This year, we're celebrating by showing some love to our farmers and ranchers by supporting GIPSA—a federal rule that would promote fair and competitive trading practices in American agriculture.

Join us by calling the White House and telling them to show our farmers and ranchers some love by supporting GIPSA.  Here's how to call:

  • Call (202)456-1111 to reach the White House Comment Line (you may need to call back if the line is busy)
  • Wait for an operator to answer the phone and take your message
  • Share the message below (or something similar)
  • Tell Graham Christensen that you showed some love by emailing or tweeting him

SCRIPT:

I am a _____ (occupation) from _____(city), Nebraska calling in support of the USDA's proposed livestock rule.  I would like to thank the administration and USDA for proposing the GIPSA rule, which would greatly benefit livestock producers, consumers and rural Americans.  This rule would level the playing field for livestock producers.  Livestock producers need this rule finalized so that our/their investments will be protected, and packers can't retalite against us/them for using free speech.  I encourage the USDA to finish and implement the GIPSA proposed rule as quickly as possible.  Thank you.

(If you feel comfortable leaving your contact info.)
I would like to know where the administration stands on this issue.  Please contact me at _____.  Thank you.
